Choose the Admission Test or prior evidence
American Mensa admits people whose accepted test performance is at or above the 98th percentile. Applicants can take its Admission Test from age 14 or submit qualifying scores from a previously administered test.
The Admission Test costs USD 60 through Local Group Testing or USD 99 through Private Testing. It reports whether the membership criterion is met, but does not provide a detailed IQ score or percentile-rank report. American Mensa separately listed annual membership at USD 107. Confirm the current retest rule in the live booking route before arranging another attempt.
For an applicant under 14, use the prior-evidence route and ask American Mensa which age-specific documentation it will consider.
Prior evidence must follow American Mensa's submission rules
The prior-evidence route uses American Mensa's current accepted tests, qualifying scores, administration conditions, and document rules. Submission may require an original record, a notarized copy, or documentation sent directly by a school or testing institution.
Check that the exact test and edition appear on the qualifying-score list and that the record includes the required score or percentile, test date, age, and administration details. American Mensa makes the final eligibility decision, including whether a WAIS report meets those conditions.
The Practice Test does not qualify
The Mensa Practice Test can help an adult decide whether to pursue official testing, but it does not create qualifying evidence. The same applies to a score or certificate from a self-administered consumer IQ website.

Use a professional assessment for a separate formal purpose
If Mensa admission is the only goal, the Admission Test is the direct route. A professional assessment may instead be appropriate when the purpose includes clinical consultation, educational or workplace documentation, or a professionally interpreted cognitive profile; an existing report can also be submitted through prior evidence when it meets American Mensa's rules.
