Choose supervised testing or private professional evidence
Mensa South Africa uses the top-2% standard and runs supervised admission testing in major regions. Sessions take about two hours, are available from age 16, and cost R130, or R100 for a student with valid student identification.
Applicants can take a language-based test in English or Afrikaans, or a pattern-based test. The selected session determines which format is used; a pattern-based test should not be described as entirely culture-free.
The supervised test provides a Mensa eligibility decision. The public joining pages do not list a standard result timeframe, a retest interval or attempt limit, membership dues, or a private-evidence review fee. Confirm these through the current booking or contact route before paying or submitting evidence.
Private professional evidence is the route for applicants under 16
An applicant under 16 does not use the standard supervised admission session. Mensa South Africa directs this route to testing by a registered psychologist, followed by submission to its National Supervisory Psychologist.
Adults may also submit results from a private professional assessment. Use Mensa South Africa's current evidence instructions or contact route to confirm the accepted test and score, psychologist details, and required documents.
The website test is practice, not admission
Mensa South Africa also provides an online test as an ability check and confidence-building exercise. It does not replace supervised admission testing or accepted private professional evidence.
