The remotely proctored route reduces travel while retaining live supervision. Mensa Ireland events and British Mensa's online and evidence services use separate bookings; the British services charge in GBP.
For the in-person route, start on the Mensa Ireland event page, choose an available event, complete its booking and payment, take the supervised session, and receive the result normally within 7–10 days.
For the online route, start with British Mensa's remotely proctored test, pay GBP 49, book and complete the supervised session with identity checks; British Mensa provides results within 10 days.
If you do not qualify, you can retake the remotely proctored test after six months.
The supervised route uses two timed tests
Mensa Ireland's in-person session uses two paper-based tests completed under strict time limits. They include verbal and visual demands, and a top-2% score on either can qualify. Useful preparation is practising accurate pacing across both formats.
The online test is also supervised, with identity and equipment checks. Ordinary online practice and the Mensa Home Test cannot be used to qualify for membership.
Prior evidence is useful when a qualifying professional score already exists
A qualifying WAIS result can be submitted as prior evidence when the instrument and edition, age at testing, qualifying score, professional administration, and report documentation meet the accepted conditions.
Start with British Mensa's prior-evidence route, pay GBP 49, submit the professional report and required documents for review, and receive the qualification decision normally in 4–6 weeks.

Plan for event geography, age rules, and membership dues
The supervised qualifying routes are for people over 10 years 6 months; younger applicants use prior evidence. For Mensa Ireland's in-person test, candidates under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who remains at the centre. Event availability depends on current locations rather than a permanent nationwide calendar.
Admission fees and annual membership dues are separate. Irish annual dues are EUR 70.95 or GBP 59.95; direct-debit dues are EUR 64.95 or GBP 54.95; and unwaged or under-18 members pay EUR 44.95 or GBP 37.95.
