Compare the supervised test with prior evidence
Australian Mensa accepts scores at or above the 98th percentile—the top 2%—through a supervised entrance test or approved prior evidence.

Use the supervised test when membership is the only goal and prior evidence when an accepted score already exists. The entrance test is the lower-cost route to membership; arrange a WAIS when its IQ value and cognitive profile are also useful.
The entrance test covers several formats under strict time limits
Start with the supervised-test application, pay the non-refundable application fee, then use the separate calendar to reserve a venue. Take the supervised test and receive the result in 6–8 weeks. If you cannot attend the booked session, you can rebook without another fee.
The test itself takes about 75 minutes within an approximately two-hour session. It covers verbal or vocabulary, numerical, memory, visual-sequence, and matrix-reasoning formats and is completed under strict time limits. Preparation should focus on accurate pacing and switching among formats, not matrix puzzles alone. The standard result gives a percentile and qualification outcome; a fuller psychologist report is optional and costs extra.
Prior evidence gives qualification; a WAIS gives a broader profile
A qualifying WAIS result can be submitted as prior evidence when it was the latest approved edition at the time of testing, includes a qualifying score, was administered by a psychologist with general registration, and is supplied with the designated form and documents. Apply through Australian Mensa's prior-evidence route; the AUD 60 application fee is non-refundable. Tests administered by provisionally registered psychologists and internet tests do not qualify.

Age, retesting, and annual dues
Candidates can use supervised testing from age 10 through 75; ages 10–18 require parental permission, and younger children use prior evidence. A second supervised entrance test normally requires approval and at least a one-year interval.
Current annual membership is AUD 88 standard, AUD 66 concession or child, and AUD 44 for an eligible additional family member.
