This page is the official legal information for BrainTypeIQ, a service operated under the Braintype name. Short explanations may appear in other languages across the product so that users can understand important points before taking the test or purchasing a detailed report. Those explanations are provided for convenience and do not create separate localized legal terms unless expressly stated.

Nothing on this page limits mandatory consumer, privacy, or other rights that apply under the laws of a user's country or region.

Terms of Use

By using BrainTypeIQ, users agree to these terms. BrainTypeIQ provides an online cognitive ability test and displays overall IQ, domain scores, task scores, a brain type report, and related information based on the user's responses.

Accounts and eligibility

1. Users may log in with an email address or another supported authentication method.
2. Persons under 13 years of age may not use BrainTypeIQ.
3. Minors who are old enough to use the service must do so with the consent of a parent or guardian.
4. Users are responsible for managing their own account access.
5. Braintype may restrict use if misuse, fraud, or security risk is suspected.

Prohibited conduct

• Using search, notes, another person's assistance, or other outside support during the test.
• Taking the test jointly with another person or intentionally submitting inaccurate responses.
• Copying, publishing, redistributing, or reverse engineering test items, answers, scoring methods, screens, or reports.
• Accessing the service by unauthorized means or interfering with operation of the service.
• Using BrainTypeIQ in a way that violates laws, regulations, or public order.

Intellectual property and service changes

Test items, algorithms, design, text, images, reports, and other service content belong to Braintype or their lawful rights holders. Users may not copy, modify, publish, or redistribute them beyond personal use. Braintype may change, suspend, or terminate all or part of the service when necessary for maintenance, security, product improvement, external service issues, or other operational reasons.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise. To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes related to these terms are subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.

Privacy Policy

Braintype handles user information appropriately in providing BrainTypeIQ. The service may collect and process the following categories of information.

Information we collect

• Email address, account information, inquiry content, and authentication-related information.
• Optional reference information such as year of birth, gender, native language, education level, occupation or status, reason for taking the test, region of residence, and self-reported prior assessment information.
• Test responses, accuracy, response times, response patterns, progress, scores, reports, purchase history, and shared report settings.
• Technical and usage information such as IP address, access time, browser, operating system, screen size, page views, button actions, purchase flow, security logs, and analytics events.
• Payment-related information necessary for purchase processing. Full card numbers and similar payment details are processed by third-party payment providers and are not stored on Braintype servers.

Purposes of use

• Generating and displaying test results, scores, reports, and detailed report content.
• Account management, login, session restoration, purchase history management, and access control.
• Payment processing, refund support, customer support, security, misuse prevention, and incident investigation.
• Improving test item quality, statistical adjustment, product quality, and purchase flow.
• Sending service-related notices, including test resumption emails.

External services

BrainTypeIQ uses external services to provide and operate the product, including payment processing, authentication, database, hosting, delivery, email, analytics, security, and support services. These services may process information as needed for their respective functions.

Sharing and business transfers

Braintype does not sell personal information for advertising. Information may be shared with service providers, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent misuse, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, business transfer, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

Cookies, retention, and user rights

BrainTypeIQ may use cookies or similar technologies for login, sessions, security, analytics, and service operation. Users may disable cookies in browser settings, but some features may not work correctly. Information is retained for the period necessary for service provision, account and report redisplay, purchase history, accounting, security, legal compliance, service improvement, and statistical analysis. Users may request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of use of their personal information in accordance with applicable law.

Payments, Refunds, and Seller Information

Paid product

The paid product is the BrainTypeIQ Detailed Report, a one-time digital purchase. BrainTypeIQ does not offer subscriptions or recurring billing, and purchasing a detailed report does not start a subscription or recurring payment. The detailed report may include domain scores, task scores, GAI/CPI and other detailed indicators, and expanded report content.

Price and payment

• The price is the amount shown on the purchase screen, including tax where applicable.
• Payments are processed through Stripe.
• Available payment methods are shown on the purchase screen.
• The detailed report is generally available immediately after payment is completed.
• Users are responsible for communication fees required for internet access.

Refunds

Within 30 days after purchase, users may request a refund if they are not satisfied with the detailed report. Fraudulent use, clear abuse, sharing or redistribution, duplicate refund requests, and similar cases may be excluded from refunds. This does not limit consumer rights recognized by applicable law.

• Scores and reports may be affected by device environment, test conditions, health condition, interruption, retaking, learning effects, and response behavior.
• Braintype does not guarantee that information provided by the service is accurate, complete, useful for a specific purpose, or free from interruption or error.
